JC Bellville South opened its doors in February 2008 and we are currently looking after 104 little ones.
We have four classes
the duckling class: twenty seven ’3 year olds’ under the care of teacher Zelda,
the Turtle class: Twenty seven “4 year old’s” in the capable hands of teacher Denise,
and the Teddy bear class: Fifty One ” 5 year olds ” under the care of teachers Yvonne & Cleo
We are also very blessed to have two loving day-grandmothers who not only prepare the delicious meals, but also sticks a plaster where one is needed and shower the kids with hugs & kisses for all the pains & aches which we are not able to see.
We would love to have a ‘real’ kitchen fitted with units, in order to use the classroom (converted into the kitchen) as a eating area for the children, to eliminate the time wasted with feeding them in their respective classrooms.
We give them 2 nutritious meals a day as well as a healthy snack twice a day. We provide them with basic educare & get them ready for ‘big school’ – Grade R. And of course the most important and precious thing we can give them – we teach them Christian values & Bible principles.
In August we started a music programme. Every Wednesday, Robert entertains the kids with fun songs & dances with his guitar. It is an absolute joy to see how easily they remember concepts when a tune is added to it – things like opposites, counting, left & right, etc.
It is such a privilege to be able to give these kids a safe haven for a few hours every day where they don’t have to worry about sleeping outside, no food at home, mom & dad arguing all the time, poverty stricken households and so much more. The things they go through every day and which forms a part of their lives are things that no child should ever have to endure. A care-free childhood is not an option for them . . .
Our weekly music classes are sponsored by: George Cornelius, Alan Strichen & Rowan Cornelius – Thank you very much for bringing music to these children’s lives – they really enjoy it.
Just before we closed for the December Holidays. Friends of JC – Marie & Rene together with their lovely children, treated the JC Kids to precious gifts & cake. The children were so surprised & really enjoyed this very special treat.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
